Wephepper: The Flying Disc with a Difference

Wephepper is a tri-colored, discus-shaped invention by the eccentric New York scientist Patrick Parker, who believes the Frisbee was never really invented and that animals are better friends than humans. The Wephepper is, therefore, a toy that makes the connection between a dog and its owner.

What is a Wephepper?

Shrugging off questions on why he didn’t think the Industrial Revolution’s benefits to humankind were significant, the media savvy Parker called it the wrong approach by “man,” since the “age of enlightenment” and the “founding of democracy.” He believed these were the only “correct achievements by mankind” in the last 1000 years of human history.

What is the Spirit behind a Wephepper?

On being asked why the wephepper was tri-colored, Parker said it represented the Holy Trinity and that dogs too should have the benefit of it. A wephepper is a plastic disc thrown sideways in a spinning fashion by a human at roughly waist height and is to be caught in the mouth by a pursuing hound. It raised the question of how it was different from a Frisbee at which the grey-haired scientist merely said that those ‘flying discs’ had been invented for humans and didn’t carry the same spirit. “The thought is the ancestor to the deed,” he said in a parting remark.

Understanding the Inventor

Befuddled media persons excavated transcripts of earlier interviews with the 68-year old bachelor in an attempt to understand his psyche. A young reporter noticed that Parker’s favorite movie was the Angelina Jolie starrer ‘Wanted,’ and that he had been impressed with the concept of the ‘loom of fate,’ where the code deciphered from the loom decides who should be killed by the secret society, apparently for the continuity of life. Maybe this will tell us something the mindset of the man who wishes civilization could go back to the Christ era and start afresh. Parker has apparently forwarded a script for a proposed movie ‘Knights of Medieval America,’ to director Steve Spielberg who is still grappling with the meaning of the title.

The Future for the Wephepper

In the meantime, Patrick Parker has been in talks with businesspersons who reportedly hounded him after he secured the landmark patent, for manufacturing and marketing arrangements for the ‘unidentified flying object.’ While several questions will pop up regarding the authenticity of this UFO, innovation-hungry America believes there is something new here.

Businesses and shops are closing early on Thursday, 5 November, so that everybody can be at home to watch the scientist’s 5:00 PM TV interview with Jay Leno. Much can be expected simply because of the publicity the invention has garnered, as it represents ‘today.’

But remember, just as Rene Zellweger is surprised at the lack of expected publicity after her final trial in the movie Chicago, Richard Gere tells her, “You’re yesterday, now. The press wants tomorrow, so move on, Roxie.”

We will see what tomorrow has in store for inventor Patrick Parker.
